We’re Not THOSE Banks!

You may have noticed articles in our daily papers surmising that Banks will be raising service charges to compensate for loss of revenue as a new regulation prohibits financial institutions from charging overdraft fees for overdrafts caused by use of an ATM or Debit Card. For many of the large banks, these fees produced a substantial amount of revenue which will be greatly missed.

At First Bank & Trust, we’re not in that position. Because we never encouraged our customers to become overdrawn by allowing them to use their cards to overdraw their accounts, this new regulation does not have any impact on our means of operation or our bottom line.

We know that, in these busy times, it’s easy to overlook a transaction or be too busy to keep our checkbook registers up to date—and overdrafts do happen.

We just don’t want to place our customers in a situation where they may overdraw their accounts because the information to make an informed decision is not possible.

So, if the money is not in your account, we let you know that and we don’t let you inadvertently overdraw your account with your ATM/Debit card.
